Olympic Odyssey
SPM400.Z001 will explore the history of the ancient and modern Olympic Games and their influence on modern sport through first hand exploration of Olympics sites. The business as well as the competitive athletic aspects of the Olympic movement will be studied and the influence the IOC plays on Sport in modern times. The organizational aspects of the IOC will be studied in depth as well as the process used to select an Olympic City. The student will visit four major venues of past and present Olympic activities. They include; London, the site of the 2012 Summer Olympics, Paris the city of the original congress forming the modern Olympic movement. Lausanne, Switzerland, home to the IOC, the Olympic Museum, and the Olympic Studies Centre, and finally Athens the site of the 2004 Olympics and Olympia the ancient home of the Greek Olympics.

ReplyDeleteAs I write this you are all flying over the Atlantic -- hopefully, close to landing in London.
Enjoy your trip and remember -- patience is most needed at the airports! But with Lena and Stacie cracking jokes and making fun of people, the lines should go fast at Passport Control.
Looking forward to LOTS of pictures! So, I am sure ALL of you have a digital camera packed and will hopefully, upload tons of shots of everyone and the beautiful places you will visit.

Hey Dad...Miss you already. Have so much fun and I wish I could be there. Don't worry about Mom we all will take very good care of her :) Can't wait to hear all about the trip and see the amazing pictures I'm sure you will take. <3 you lots!
